A man who loved God saw Majnun sifting the earth of the road and said: 'Majnun, what are you looking for?' 'I am looking for Laila, ' he said. The man asked: 'Do you hope to find Laila there?' 'I look for her everywhere,' said Majnun, 'in the hope of finding her somewhere,'
Wah wah we are looking for Ishqe Masha-Allah

Let me clarify to Adam and Marhaba, a Holy man seeing another obsessed with finding his true love. For, he is willing to dig up the soil from the ground to find it by any means, and then the Holy man is comparing how much mad love Majnun has. And how much love he has for Allah. Also the lover of God is thinking does he possess the same amount of love for Allah the most Exalted. I hope that clears up a few things.

Majnun and laila were in love with each other. The holy man was madly in love with Allah ta'ala and could understand their love. No camparison.

To Salma
It is not a question whether the Holy man understands the love Majnun has for Laila. It is more of a obsession, he has gone mad for the love of Majnun. The holy man is comparing how mad is he himself for Allah.
